I
felt your heart break as I held you so gently in my arms. Knowing
there was nothing I could do for you was the hardest of all. Watching
your eyes close, watching your chest rise and fall, all for the last
time was just the beginning of a changed life, of a changed heart. I
felt a part of myself die that day. A part of my own heart died with
yours as I held you so close to me. The smell of gun powder still in
the air, the sound still echoing in my head; I feared I would never
forget that sound.
