No one should be made to feel guilty or tormented simply for being in love or for being who they were created to be. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ If you're looking for a complex thriller, hardcore, heavily sexualised erotica, gritty gay realism, typical BDSM leather scenarios, a horror trip or a gory murder mystery then you've come to the wrong place. So, what the heck DO I write? In a nutshell - sassy, sensual gay discipline fiction ~ stories with a D/s twist More details: I don't write vanilla romance, classic spanking erotica or BDSM. My stories incorporate elements from all those mediums, but essentially belong to a sub group of romance/power exchange fiction often referred to as discipline romance fiction or discipline partnership fiction. Not everyone understands or 'gets' discipline fiction and that's fine. I don't 'get' prawn cocktail flavour crisps, but I uphold the right of people to eat them should their taste buds be wired that way. In discipline fiction the spanking scenes are not there to serve as a precursor to a sex scene. They illustrate the consensual submission of one partner to the authority of the other. It's a form of power exchange. While sex is certainly an aspect of my fiction it isn't the main focal point, so if you think of and enjoy M/M stories only in terms of heat level and detailed sex scenes then my fic probably won't be to yout taste. I tend to focus more on the emotional side of things and of course the discipline aspect. As well as being the vehicle by which I express my interest in discipline practices, my stories are about everyday relationships, situations, affection and love. They're quirky, warm hearted and sensitive with a liberal sprinkling of offbeat humor. They're entertaining, sometimes thought provoking and always observant of the human condition. I’ve been writing in this genre for over ten years. I have many theories as to why I’m drawn so strongly to this type of fiction. Perhaps it allows me to express aspects of my personality that would otherwise remain repressed. I started writing in 2009 on a whim - I heard about a contest on an erotic writing website and thought, what the hell? It was the beginning of a rewarding and deeply satisfying period in my life; I began writing regularly for the site, and the feedback and encouragement I received there gave me the courage to strike out on my own and try to make a real go of this. I've been a story teller for most of my life - when I was a young child, I would often dream up complex and continuous narratives for book and television characters that I came across. It gets more and more ridiculous every time I reread it, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it - I love it for it's unashamed cuckoolander quality, and reminds me of how much fun it is to write badly. After that, I got more serious about creating a real story - a story that would affect people and make them happy to be alive and reading. I hope I can achieve that.

After growing up in an immigrant/lumbering/fishing town on California's Mendocino Coast, and after college in Sacramento and San Francisco, I headed to Colorado to teach high school and work on my M.A. in Denver University’s Writing Program. In the late 80’s, I wrote plays for Denver’s legendary Changing Scene. That led me to develop plays produced in Arizona, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Alaska, then off-off Broadway in New York. A scholarship sent me to London to study theatre, where a jealous-love murder threat in our dorm inspired the fictionalized events of my first novel, Nothing Gold Can Stay (Alyson Books, 2000, published as Casey Nelson to avoid embarrassing my fellow students and teachers). In the second novel, Love and Genetic Weaponry: The Beginner's Guide (Alyson Books, 2009), I explored a completely fictitious Hitchcockian-paranoid-romance set among very real Western landscapes. The idea of the amateur sleuth fascinated me, especially my protagonist, Ray O’Brien, a young teacher forced into the role of accidental detective. He must solve the mystery and defuse danger using only his everyday wits and evolving insights into human nature. Like my character, I have found myself in the midst of a role I never predicted—accidental mystery writer. But I’m at work on the third novel in the series, Fresh Grave in Grand Canyon, which gives me a chance to explore more of what I love—whitewater rafting and the canyon’s surreal geology—and develop another romance interrupted, of course, by murder.
